How to run a calling campaign to a Klaviyo segment

5 min readIntegrations

This guide assumes Klaviyo is already connected. If it isn’t, follow Install and connect Klaviyo first.

What you’ll accomplish

You’ll turn one Klaviyo segment into a live outbound calling campaign: prepare the segment, pick it as the campaign audience, choose the agent and offer, schedule the run, and read the results in your call logs.

Step 1 — Prepare the segment in Klaviyo

Build or pick a segment in Klaviyo that describes exactly who you want to call. Keep the logic simple so the audience is easy to reason about.

Require a phone number with “Properties about someone › Phone number is set”. Consider adding SMS-subscribed or recent-purchase conditions. You are responsible for having consent to call under the laws that apply to you. A segment created seconds ago can take up to 5 minutes to appear in Loop unless you press “Refresh”.

Step 2 — Start a new campaign

In Loop, go to Campaigns → “New campaign”. In Basics, give the campaign a name and pick a goal such as “Abandoned cart” or “Promotion”.

Step 3 — Choose the Klaviyo audience

In Audience, set Audience Source to “Klaviyo Segment” (“Members of a Klaviyo segment who have a phone number”). The panel shows “Klaviyo connected — <Account name>”, “<N> Klaviyo segments available”, a “Refresh” button, and the “Klaviyo segment” dropdown.

After choosing a segment you see “<count> profiles in this segment. Only those with a phone number will be called.” That count is an estimate — the number of actual calls is usually lower. If Klaviyo cannot return it you see “Segment size unavailable — the campaign will still call everyone in it who has a phone number.”

If Klaviyo is not connected, the panel shows “Connect Klaviyo — Link your Klaviyo account to sync your segments for use with campaigns.” with a “Connect Klaviyo” button that takes you to Team.

Step 4 — Pick the agent and offer

In Agent & Promo, choose the AI agent that will place the calls. The agent can greet people by name using the {{first_name}} merge variable, which comes from the Klaviyo profile. Attach a discount if the campaign needs one.

Step 5 — Schedule and launch

In Schedule, set the calling window and the audience sync frequency: “Once (at launch)”, “Every hour”, “Every 6 hours”, “Every 12 hours” or “Daily”. “Once (at launch)” calls the segment as it stands when the campaign starts; a recurring frequency re-reads the segment so members who qualify later are picked up. Then Launch and confirm.

Step 6 — Review results

Open the call logs to see each call’s outcome, recording or transcript, and summary. The contact shows the name and email that came from the Klaviyo profile, so results are easy to reconcile with what you see in Klaviyo.

Best practices

  • Test with a small segment first, then scale.
  • Keep segment logic simple — fewer conditions, fewer surprises.
  • Exclude people you called recently with a Klaviyo condition.
  • Respect quiet hours — see TCPA compliance basics for merchants.
